You Want Tangents?! We'll Give You Tangents with Mo

November 8, 2024

WT Lite

Mo (who was last on the show before summer 2024 talking about Starwdew Valley) had recorded an episode with Mo, but spent almost 25 minutes recording complete tangents before getting to the episode proper. This episode is a collection of those tangents, provided as a piece of behind-the-scenes fun.

Show Notes

Remember Mo from the Starwdew Valley episodes? Well, she has returned. Both Mo and Squidge were recording an episode of the “To The Moviee” series about the Street Fighter movie, but ended up talking for a long time. All of it was hilarious, and all of it was recorded. So we thought we’d share some of the off0cuts and random tangents with you in this episode.

Squidge lightly led us into this, rather unusual episode, which started life as a series of off-cuts and bloopers from an episode with Mo about…, well we wont say just yet.

Waffling Taylors Lite, the pocket-sized podcast that packs a gaming punch.

Hello there and welcome to this very special episode of Waffling Taylors. I thought I might draw back of the curtain a bit, and go through some of the processes we do behind the scenes that you don’t normally hear.

Now, the reason why I decided to do this is because I’m currently editing a very special episode of "To The Movies" with someone called Mo. Mo’s a very special person; she is who I consider to be the queen of tangents. Without realising before we got to the actual recording, we had already been talking for nearly 17 minutes of just pure nonsense. So I thought I might show you some of the clips And talk you through some of them.

Because of this, the show notes for this episode will be almost exclusively zero context quotes from the episode.

Trucking Upstairs and Servants

Mo's Avatar Mo

…because I had to go into the office yesterday. And I was downstairs, I had my laptop bag on, I had my sneakers on, I was holding my wallet and my keys, I was ready to go.

I was like, "shit, I forgot my phone." So I had to truck upstairs, grab my phone, truck downstairs.

"Shit, I forgot my glasses." Trucked upstairs. Trucked downstairs.

"Shit, I forgot deodorant." Trucked upstairs. Trucked downstairs.

I was like, "damn it! Can I just have a servant to run up and down stairs for the things I forgot. Not just in general run up downstairs, just for the things I forgot." First of all, I would probably gain like 20 pounds because, you know, I run up and down the stairs a lot for things I forgot.

Becoming Famous On The Internet

Squidge's Avatar Squidge

Okay, so before we start, I’ll just do 10 seconds of silence so I can catch the room tone. So we’ll do that in three, two…

I honestly though that my timer had froze just then. One of the seconds took way too long to cross.

Mo's Avatar Mo

So it’s just going to be clapping and silence. That’s the episode.

…

People are famous on the internet for the stupidest stuff. So if we can’t get famous for claps and silence, it’s on us.

Squidge's Avatar Squidge

Yeah, we’re definitely doing something wrong. If we can’t get it for that.

… What a downer to start things off on? If we can’t clap and be quiet and be famous for it, then what’s the point?

Mo's Avatar Mo

I mean it’s you just have a you have to have a real outlook on life is what it comes down to.

Video Call Bingo!

Squidge's Avatar Squidge

Okay, I can’t here you. Your sound’s gone. sound’s gone.

Mo's Avatar Mo

Did that work?

Squidge's Avatar Squidge

I can hear you now.

Mo's Avatar Mo

You can hear me now?

Okay. So what was wrong is my computer wasn’t recognizing my microphone, but this was recognizing my microphone. So then I turned the microphone on on my end, and then you couldn’t hear me. So now it looks like both can hear me. And this is why you have two monitors.

Side note: the next time you’re on a video call and someone’s mic is muted while they’re talking, the first person to call “Bingo!” wins.

One of The Greatest Films of All Time

Squidge's Avatar Squidge

And because I was really distracted, and heavily busy, and I was doing all sorts, I heard some things that weren’t there. So I heard a couple of F-bombs and I was like, "what? No, go back. No, it wasn’t." But it’s always funny when I think, "did Kylie Minogue do an F-bomb in the Street Fighter film?" No, she didn’t. It’d be really cool if they did though.

Mo's Avatar Mo

Yeah, I don’t know if you, because Galaxy Quest, one of the greatest films of all time, when they’re at the Chompers if you read Sigourney Lever’s lips she did not say, "well screw that." She did and they overdubbed it but they didn’t reshoot it and she just goes, "well fuck that," and it’s one of my favourite things.

Which you can see in this clip:

Squidge's Avatar Squidge

I’m looking out for that later. I’m going to watch it, and I’m looking out for that.

Haute Cuisine

Mo's Avatar Mo

I don’t know. I am far more likely to eat chocolate chip cookie dough out of the bowl before I eat brownie mix out of the bowl. Brownie mix is good, but there’s something about chocolate chip cookie dough when you make it, and it has like that slight stickiness to it from the butter, and it’s just, like, that’s so good. Yeah.

Squidge's Avatar Squidge

All of Mo’s secrets revealed. We’re learning so much right now.

Mo's Avatar Mo

We’re learning so much and yet so little.

Squidge's Avatar Squidge

Yes. We need to ask the important questions like, "do you like cookie dough? Yes or no." Well I think it’s a yes or no answer

Mo's Avatar Mo

This is a life or death situation right here: "do you like cookie dough?"
