beating the crap out of someone
Show Notes
We jumped straight into the show with this episode, mainly because it had been such a long day.
Earlier in The Day
Squidge spent a lot of money on merch, both for himself and as gifts
because that’s the kind of guy he is
but he also had a chance to meet Luigi:

There were also some shenanigans over at the Nintendo stage relating to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but he wasn’t involved.
Whereas I spent part of my morning playing a wonderful game called: Standing in a Queue… which is my way of saying that I got to see the Cyberpunk 2077 experience, but it meant a lot of queuing. It did mean that I got to wear one of these cool things:

and it meant that I was the third person into the experience
there were a few folks who were ushered in ahead of me
I really enjoyed the experience, which was spent watching someone from the dev/testing team playing a heavily scripted section of the game. It’ll mean that I’ll need to buy some specific hardware in order to play the game though.
Also, DAEMON is not the same as DEMON. DAEMON comes from the Latin for “to observe”.
just a little word-ness that really upsets me
I also really wanted to try out Final Fantasy VII (2020) today rather than over the weekend, as it would probably get super busy.
Meanwhile: In The Evening
We took another trip to The O2 for Lunch, and ended up getting Wagamamas for lunch
for non-UK folks, that’s a
and I had a jasmine tea. I love jasmine tea, but the version they have is an experience: they serve you a transparent cup with a jasmine flower in it, and a pot of hot water. As the tea brews, the flower opens up. So you start with something which looks like this:
but ends up looking like this:
As Squidge pointed out on Twitter:
Squidge:Jay got a drink which has ended up looking like a rejected experiment by William Birkin
I then talk about how getting searched on the way into and out of the expo was getting a little old, but I counter that thought with:
Jay:I’d rather they did it, than someone got in with something nefarious
to which Squidge responds with a complete zinger.
I then talk about the new keyboard that I bought, which is included in this image (from the twitter account for one of my other podcasts):

and of course I make the conversation boring by turning it into a discussion of keyboards. But then I segway back to the topic at hand by mentioning Squidge’s awesome googles:
Due to the recent changes at Twitter, we are unable to embed tweets at this time. We apologise for the inconvenience.
We then talk about the speed runs that we watched that afternoon, including one where a person got the first 3 or 4 emeralds on the first stage of Sonic Mania
which was amazing to watch
and Beckski’s third speed run of the event: Tomb Raider Legend
or as I call it: Tomb Raider Foot
Leg End… get it?
But Beckski’s slot was swapped with someone who ran through the first Spyro game in Spyro Reignited Trilogy. This ended up being good news for them, because they broken the world record for it during their stream. It did mean that Beckski was left with nothing to do for a whole 2 hours
other than hang out with us, The B, and Simon_TR, that is
And when Beckski called for the timer to stop, the security folks closed the doors and kicked us out - so we were right the very end of the EGX alloted time. But before that we all ended up playing Bears vs Babies together, and Squidge ended up playing this hand:

We were also planning on meeting up with the Arcade Attack folks, the next day
check out the next episode to find out whether we met with them or not
And Squidge decided to tell the story of how, whilst waiting for Beckski’s stream to start, I intentionally unlocked MJ on Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2
something Squidge talked about in his recent Cameos in Games post
so that everyone could revel in the joy of beating people up as the King of Pop himself.
