Content Warning
We’ve got a few swears
strangely enough, we ended up with fewer than normal
which are all bleeped out. But there’s an unintended sexual euphemism used at the 35 minute mark
with the actual quote happening at 36:23
which includes Squidge directly quoting a line from Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. I get the feeling that the writers of the dialogue in the game didn’t expect for folks to take the line in the way that we did.
Also during the discussion on Resident Evil: Revelations 2, we use the phrase:
Squidge:Barry Mother-(bleep)ing Burton
more than a few times.
Notes
The B returns, and this time he’s brought a list of ideas for segments for the show.
which Squidge immidiately puts the kaibosh on
And The B drops the bomb on us that he’s a mixture of weird Beetlejuice and an incompetent Spider-Man - which is a great way to introduce himself, if I do say so.
We also start a Switch counter. See if you can keep track of the number of times that he mentions the little console that could.
answers on a podcast, please
As it’s been a while since The B was last on the show, we start with a bit of a catchup with him. As usual, this includes talking about some of the games that he has been playing recently.
We start by discussing the differences between Dragon Quest Builders 1 and 2, including the includion of the “gratitude” system and the fact that you have a little more guidance. Also, Squidge drops the bomb that he’s a bit of a castle theif when he plays it
he apparently uses tactics which would see him hired at Microsoft
The B has also been playing Super Mario Maker 2, but had never played the original because he didn’t have a WiiU. From the sounds of things he’s been enjoying it, also the inclusion of game design lessons sounds great.
The B:The pigeon is a teacher, because Nintendo
We then discuss the sheer number of simulator games which are available on Steam
there’s even a simulator for build PCs
when The B brings up that he’s been playing Cooking Simulator. To me, this seems like a more difficult, and less yummy way to learn about cooking than, you know, cooking. I mean, call me weird, if you wish…
Which leads us to discussing Arcade Club in Leeds, and how Squidge has one of the highest scores
or he did, when we last went
I then come up with the idea for a game: Podcasting Simulator, but Squidge tells me that the Arcade Attack folks have probably already released it.
Before Squidge can tell us about his recent games, I shoe horn in a mention of The B’s recent new writing gigs over at:
Compared to the episodes here, the work that he does for those sites is slightly more serious.
Squidge is then interrupted by an Undo Dog, and The B shows what happens when you attempt to improvise a joke without much experience doing so. And I take shots at bad American comedians.
There must be something wrong with my ability to tell jokes, as my comment about the previous two ultimate alliances were clearly not as good as the most recent one.
Squidge then tells us of a potentially euphemistic scene in the game:
Squidge:I chose Gamora… because she has a sword, and I like swords… then I talked to The Hulk and he said, ‘Why are we talking when we should be smashing!’
The B then lets us know about that Taiko Watiti tweet:
Due to the recent changes at Twitter, we are unable to embed tweets at this time. We apologise for the inconvenience.
Squidge then tells us that he’s trying to avoid everything related to Borderlands 3 prior to it’s release. He tends to do this with games that he really wants to play, as he doesn’t want the views of reviewers to colour his opinion of the game.
We also chat about the summer lul period that we find ourselves in: none of the big AAA titles are due out during the summer, but that simply means we’re all saving our money for the September releases.
Which is then followed up by The B serenading us
which is something that I never thought would happen on the pod
but happens a lot in real life
Then suddently, Waluigi attacks! Some might say a surprise Waluigi. That’s right, we promised it all those months ago when we interviewed the folks from Arcade Attack (in a now lost episode), and brought it up when we were on their show.
Also, Surprise Waluigi: The Movie is something that I want to see made. Get on it, Nintendo!
We also talk about a little about EGX
also PSA: we’re going to be there. Are you?
before I make a stupid pun, followed by a silly joke by Squidge. Which leads to us quoting friend of the show, co-conspirator, contributor, and all round awesome person: Ik.
But that lead us on to talking about the Resident Evil 2 Board Game, and my plan for streaming us all playing the game. I have the equipment, but I just need to figure out the logistics of it all.
But in the meantime, the story of how I beat the second formation of G with just a knife. on that note: I’ve been loving playing Resident Evil: Revelations 2 on my Linux machine
psst… Linux isn’t an OS which is supported by Revs 2
specifically the Raid mode - rather than the main story mode - as it’s loads of fun.
We then bring up the fact that we sent Unaffiliated JZ a whole bunch of Jaffa Cakes over to the folks from Coding Blocks.
that’s JZ’s podcast, homie
We then introduce The B to the Cupboard of Shame, and ask him if there’s anything he’d like to put in there.
